Calwest 2021 Registration Now Open
We are excited at the possibility of having a basketball season once again in the fall. However, we - like many businesses - are not sure exactly what that will look like. We won't know if the city will be renting their gyms yet, nor if the private schools will be renting their gyms.
Our registration plans:
We will open a $0.00 registration on June 15th, 2021. This will allow us to communicate to those people that are interested in playing basketball in the fall/winter of 2021 once we receive more information. We will also put that information on the website because it has become apparent from last year that some people's mailer systems don't deliver our messages in a timely manner.
The $0.00 registration essentially acts as a wait list, so please register early to ensure a spot for your child should the basketball season proceed.
As always, we will have a set number of spots available for each division, and the initial notification will be sent to the number of families that corresponds to the availability of that age group first.
If things in Calgary change for the better and we are able to go ahead with some type of season, we will email the people on the registration list to inform them of what that might look like and what the cost will be. We will then ask those individuals who are interested in signing up, to go back into their registration and pay for the division that your child is in. We will also post a refund policy before collecting any money so you can make an informed decision.
Please check back to the website regularly for updates.
Calwest Training - Update February 16, 2021
The government has relaxed their restrictions with regards to team sports that were to commence on February 8, 2021. We have two imposing factors - they are:
1. We are only allowed 9 players in the gym along with one coach.
2. Gym rentals - we only have one gym that is permitting us to use their facility at this time.
Unfortunately we are not able to continue our program due to these limitations. Our normal gym rentals only go until the end of February and then other organizations have the gyms contracted.
We will look for some other alternatives in the fall - if we are allowed to resume basketball activities - to supplement some gym time that was missed.
* Please consider a donation to KidSport Calgary: http://www.kidsportcanada.ca/alberta/calgary/donation/ . KidSport is an important partner of the Calgary Minor Basketball community; note that we are not able to offer the option to donate during Calwest's online registration this year.
* Before contacting our volunteers with questions, please visit the FAQ and Registration Information menus for more information, including pricing and age groups.
